how to make a simple curtain

There are several ways to make a window curtain over the years of making them I've found out quickly that sometimes the easiest way to do things works the best. Here's a step by step tutorial for an easy rod-pocket (or pole-pocket) curtain.

Mission: diy rod-pocket curtain
Duration: 1/2- 45 mins
Ninja Level: 3 (beginner)
Estimated Cost: cost of fabric (mine was a yard for $7)
Weapons Needed:

  • Fabric
  • Thread
  • Iron
  • Pins

1) Cut your curtain to size leaving the sides and bottoms 1/2"-1" allowance and leave the top allowance at 3".

2) Iron your side about a 1/4" in, press.

3) Fold again 1/4"-1/2" (depending on your allowance) and press with an iron.

4) Pin like crazy and then stitch the now hem.

5) Repeat steps 2-4 on other side.

6) Repeat steps 2-4 on the bottom.

7) Fold the top in 1/4" and press (this edge should be raw still)

8) Fold the top over about 2"-3" and press.

9) Pin like crazy again and sew the 2"-3" hem.

10) You're all done! See wasn't that easy??
